Choose The Right Roofing Contractor #1 – Hire a Professional

We are proud of the quality of materials and service that we provide here at Professional Roofers, and we are willing to stand by our product to ensure it is exactly what our clients need, no matter what.

It’s one of the primary reasons we have a 24/7 emergency roofing hotline our clients can call with any issues that may arise – because we know how stressful and frustrating it can be to have roofing problems and we never want you to have to experience that feeling for long. With that said, we also know that not all roofing contractors are as reputable as we are. In fact, there are a great deal of “companies” (and we use that term loosely) out there who are quite happy to take your money then flee when the going gets tough, or even worse, simply scam hardworking folk out of their money altogether.

While we would absolutely love your business at Professional Roofers, we understand your need (and right) to shop around first to ensure you are choosing the perfect home or commercial roofing company for you. For that reason, we have decided that our next series of blogs will focus on how to choose a reputable roofing contractor – to ensure you receive a quality product, no matter who you may inevitably choose to hire.  The first, and most important, piece of advice that we want to share with you is to hire a professional.

An established, professional roofer will have a legitimate bricks and mortar business address that they operate from. If you need to access them, they will then have multiple points of contact including an email, a phone line, and an office you can visit to discuss any issue(s) you may have. There are hundreds of “companies” in Southern Ontario that do not have an established address and simply offer their services from the back of their truck with a cellphone number as their single point of contact. Should anything go wrong either during building or afterwards, these people suddenly become unreachable, and without a legitimate business location, they can be incredibly difficult to pin down so that they can be held accountable for their actions. Suddenly a company that told you their product held a lifetime warranty is virtually untraceable.

Choose The Right Roofing Contractor #6 – Know Your Rights

A reliable, professional roofing company will also be licenced municipally for their services, and they will work to code ensuring your roof will be insurable. This company will also be insured themselves for their services and workers, guaranteeing that if anything goes wrong you won’t end up paying out-of-pocket for it. Since the work is done at height, roofing can be incredibly dangerous and a reputable company will not take their services lightly.

The best roofing contractors in Toronto should be able to provide you with a business number and copies of their licenses/insurance for you to check up on them and their practices to ensure everything is on the up and up. If you are looking to see whether the roofing company you are considering is reliable, a good place to start is the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau will be able to alert you to any complaints about legitimate companies in your area, and whether you should be wary of their services. We hope this short guide has helped you find the right contractor for your needs, and we look forward to sharing more insight with you next time!

PROFESSIONAL ROOFERS (a division of UXDU Contracting Inc.) offers one of the best residential and commercial warranties around.

Our non-prorated* warranty covers: LABOUR, MATERIALS, TEAR OFF, and DISPOSAL.

If you have problems with your new roof and which relates to a defect in the materials. Professional Roofers will cover you according to the manufacturer’s warranty specifications for the materials we used on your house or building if the manufacturer fails to fulfil its own warranty for some reason other than the act(s) or default(s) of the customer.

ROOF SHINGLES: Our non-prorated* warranty is from 10 to 15 years depending on the package you choose when you sign the contract.

METAL ROOF: Our non-prorated* warranty is 15 years depending on the package you choose when you sign the contract. Our warranty does not cover animal damage, wind damage or any other acts of Mother Nature, discolouration, fading, corrosion, rust, fire, falling objects, or if the roof is mishandled, modified, or altered.

EAVESTROUGH AND METAL WORK: We offer a five (5) year limited* warranty with respect to defects in installation and a twenty-five (25) year limited* warranty with respect to defects in materials.

SMALL REPAIRS: Normally we offer a one (1) year warranty for the area which we repair, only. However, if the problem occurs again during the one (1) year period, we are always willing to go back one more time to try and find a solution free of charge. If the problem continues thereafter, Professional Roofers will usually suggest a larger repair or new installation for which there will be an additional charge. If a whole new roof is required, the fee for the repair previously charged will be deducted from cost of the new roof.
